Job Description

The role of a Construction Management Lead (Fiber Optic) involves overseeing the planning, execution, and quality assurance of fiber optic construction projects. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of fiber optic technology and construction methods. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing Construction Activities: Oversee construction crews performing duties such as utility locating, potholing, boring, trenching, plowing, excavation, duct proofing, cable placement, restoration, and cleanup.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all construction activities meet project design, specifications, regulations, and industry practices.
  • Documentation: Maintain project documents, including daily report sheets, records of materials, and compliance with drawings, specifications, permits, and traffic plans.
  • Quality Inspections: Conduct routine inspections and audits of materials and work completed to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Communication: Communicate progress and coordinate with management, engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction issues. This role requires a strong understanding of fiber optic technology, project management principles, and the ability to lead and manage a team of construction professionals. It is a critical position that ensures the successful completion of fiber optic construction projects and contributes to the overall success of the organization.

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a variety of lead fiber network construction and inspection activities to ensure the requirements of the project design, specifications, regulations, and industry practices are being met in a safe, efficient, and meticulous manner. This position delivers the quality assurance of all construction activities, providing confidence that requirements are being met consistently.

Works under the general supervision of the Fiber Technical Project Manager

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

May provide close to general supervision to Fiber Inspector(s) while in training or on a project-by-project basis.
